Concise Description and Nature of Services Provided

A private client was interested in setting up and managing one or more large scale ethanol plants using cassava produced on irrigated mechanised farms in the middle belt states of Nigeria.  MASDAR and TMS were commissioned to undertake a prefeasibility desk study to assist the client in making a stop/go decision with respect to a full feasibility study and business plan.

Achievements

MASDAR undertook a desk study and a report  was prepared which highlighted:-

 ·         Global market for ethanol

·         African/Nigerian market for ethanol

·         Plant design and specifications

·         Energy and energy balance

·         Water requirements

·         Environmental impact and social impact

·         Cassava production issues

·         Financing

·         Critical issues

 This report recommended all the requirements for a viable ethanol plant and proposed TOR for preparing a detailed business plan.
