Concise Description and Nature of Services Provided

mascott and Price Waterhouse Associates undertook a study aimed a facilitating the transition of the Ministry of Juba Valley Development to the status of a River Basin Authority, in preparation for the construction of the Baardheere Dam, the first phase of a project to satisfy the country's power and downstream irrigation requirement. The team of specialists reviewed the existing structure of the Ministry and other agencies concerned with the development of the Juba and Shebelle catchments, developed alternative scenarios and thereafter prepared a masterplan for the evolution of the chosen framework of agencies.

The specialists provided comprised:- an Economist, an Irrigation Engineer, Power Distribution Expert and Institutions Specialist.

Achievements

Institutional arrangements designed and in place for management of a major multi-sectoral power and irrigation authority.
